Slogging through information overload

About September 15, 2012

I’m Leslie Taylor and this is my blog.  I’ve often thought of blogging because I’d read something on the Internet or hear something on the news that I took issue with or questioned.  So, I would research and I’d often find that I felt the research supported something entirely different than what was portrayed.  And I’d want to get on social media and write, “HEY PEOPLE!  Did you consider this?”  But who wants to read that all day?  Yuck!  Hopefully this blog is a more appropriate outlet.  If you don’t like it okay, but please don’t throw rocks through my window or key my car.  Thank you.

I try my best in researching to remain unbiased, but everyone is.  So it is important to understand where your information comes from.  In that regard, here is a little information about myself.  I have a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Ohio University and an MBA from Vanderbilt University.  I was a professional and ‘retired’ to raise my children.  My last job was with a small orthopedics company where I was responsible for developing new medical devices.

At home I try to feed my family ‘healthy’ food and have worked hard to develop the pallets of my children.  My kids eat what we eat.  I buy organic food, but am not entirely organic.  I find it daunting sometimes to wade through and make sense of all the conflicting information regarding nutrition that exists today.

It is important for you to know a few other things.  I may be commenting on politics so I should say that I consider myself a moderate conservative.  My economic views are conservative.  My belief in small government and individual responsibility drive my position.  However, I take issue with several of the social components of the Republican platform.  I am dismayed at the current state of politics for many reasons.

As I post, if there is information that I feel is important to my analysis of the issue, I’ll note it.

This blog is really about my journey though all of the information and sometimes about how I apply that clarity (?) to life.  I don’t claim to be right, but I do claim to be informed.
